Monocouche Rendering
Monocouche render, often called K-Rend in Ireland, is a coloured, single-coat render applied to the outside of houses and extensions. Our monocouche and silicon rendering service gives walls a clean, finished appearance.
Because the colour runs all the way through the render, there is no need to paint it. That makes it a popular choice for new builds, extensions and older homes where the existing walls need renewing.
Monocouche is cement- and lime-based, whereas silicone uses advanced polymer resins based on silicone instead of cement with both offering long term stability and colour performance.
Silicone render is more commonly used now when houses are being wrapped with XPS and due to its flexibility, offers a better stable surface on top of the external insulation.
Choosing a finish and colour
Our rendering options are available in a wide range of colours and finishes. We are happy to talk through the options with you, so the render finish suits your home.
Weather and timing
Render needs reasonable weather to apply and cure properly. Heavy rain, frost and strong sun can all cause problems, so we plan the job around conditions, and protect fresh work where we can.
Is render right for your house?
Render can lift the look of an older house or tie an extension in with the original building. We talk through whether it suits your walls, and what the job involves.
Existing walls matter. Damp, crumbling or loose areas need dealing with first, because render only looks as good as the wall behind it.
Render also pairs well with other work. If you would rather keep and repaint what you have, see our exterior house painting.
