Exterior House Painting
A fresh coat of exterior paint can transform the look of a house. It also protects the walls from Irish weather, which is hard on any painted surface.
Good painting is mostly preparation. Paint applied over algae, dirt or flaking old paint will not last, so the first job is always to get the surface clean, sound and dry.
How we approach exterior painting
- Cleaning the walls and treating any algae or moss before painting
- Scraping back loose or flaking paint to a firm edge
- Filling small cracks and holes so the finish looks even
- Masking and protecting windows, doors, plants and paths
- Applying exterior masonry paint in even coats, with drying time between them
What we can paint
- Rendered and plastered walls
- Brick and block walls that are suited to masonry paint
- Fascias, soffits and bargeboards
- Porches, door surrounds and window surrounds
Weather matters. Exterior painting needs dry conditions, so we plan the work around the forecast and allow each coat to dry fully. That might mean the job takes a little longer in a wet spell, but the finish is better for it.
Colour choice is yours, and we are happy to talk through options that suit the style of the house and the street. We will always agree the finish with you before we start.
Colour and finish
We are happy to talk through colour and finish before we begin. Which includes what type of paint finish you would like.
Tell us which parts of the property you want included, such as walls, fascias and doors. We then agree exactly what will be painted, and quote accordingly.
Painting often follows other work. See our exterior house cleaning for preparation, wall painting for garden and boundary walls, and monocouche rendering where the surface needs renewing.
